The Blind Thistle

Hello and welcome to my first blog and post! I have started this blog as a way to document and share things about my adventures as well as other random things that strike my fancy. If you haven’t read the “about me” section yet, here is a brief lowdown: I am visually and hearing impaired (think Helen Keller). I was born with a moderate hearing loss and later in my mid-teens diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa. Together they are called Usher Syndrome.

This disease does not define me. I do not want your pity. I only want to educate others on what it is to have this disease and what I can do in spite of it.
