Way, way, way outside the comfort zone

Hello everyone! So I did this thing. This thing that took me so far out of my comfort zone that I still can’t believe I did it.

I registered for a contest. YIKES! Now you are thinking “oh wow, big deal, a contest” but this in no ordinary contest. This contest is one in which Blind and Visually impaired people share their dreams, aspirations and adventures that they would like to partake in. The contest encourages us to want something that is outside our comfort zone.

“The Holman Prize is not meant to save the world or congratulate someone for leaving the house. This prize will spark unanticipated accomplishments in the blindness community. You will see blind people doing things that surprise and perhaps even confuse you. These new LightHouse prizes will change perceptions about what blind people are capable of doing.”
— Bryan Bashin, CEO, LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired

So my dream and huge bucket list item is…wait for it… Heli-Snowboarding 🚁🏂 in Whistler! Whoohoo! BUT that isn’t the thing that puts me outside my comfort zone….it was the YouTube video pitch talking about myself to potentially thousands of people. Gahhh it makes me queasy just thinking about it!

So I worked up the courage to submit it, and the video was approved and is now live on the Holman Prize website and all of their social media platforms. No going back now, it is out there for the world to see.

Now comes the next thing that puts me outside my comfort zone- asking you for help (to make my video the people’s choice and guaranteeing me a spot in the semi-finals)
Please, if you can spare a few minutes, go and watch my YouTube video submission and then click the ‘thumbs up’ 👍 button in the lower right hand side of my YouTube video.

This contest and video will help me spread more awareness about Blind Ambition and show just what blind and VI people are capable of.

“Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing at all”

Helen Keller

I am truly happy when I am on the slopes.
