Word of the year…

Last year I choose the word “Intention” as my personal word for the year. That was before the world went sideways with the pandemic. Yet even with the ups and downs of the past year I was still able to apply my ‘word’. If anything it was an apt choice because I had lots and lots of time to focus on that word and implement it in a lot of aspects of my life.

We are just over a month into 2021 and the world is still in the throes of a pandemic. It has taken me a while to figure out what word I want to apply as my mantra for this year but finally it came to me. I’ve been going through some stressful events this past week and the word literally just popped up in my brain screaming and demanding my attention. That word is ‘Focus‘.

Focus: the state or quality of having or producing clear visual definition

I’ve learned that I need to stop trying to fix everything that I deem ‘wrong’ around me and instead focus on my mental and physical health. Last year proved challenging in both those aspects so this year I want to fix that. I need to do this. I need to take a step back and reassess the role of certain things in my life- discover who my true friends are, spend less time getting caught up in lifeless void that is Social Media and spend more time learning new things.

Let’s hope that 2021 proves to be a more forgiving year, a year filled with calm and understanding. Let’s all focus on the good that is out there and not dwell on the negative.

What word resonates with you this year?
