Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…

For me winter is ALL about the snow and below zero temps. Without that, winter just isn’t winter. Oh I am quite aware that I am in the minority when it comes to snow love. “You can keep it” and “I’d rather be on a beach” are often muttered when I am joyously proclaiming my love of snow to anyone who will listen.

This season the meteorologists and almanacs all said that it was going to be a winter to remember with more than usual amounts of snow. I could barely contain my enthusiasm!! MORE SNOW!!
It took a while, but the snow finally arrived and decided to stick around. There was actually lot of snow in November but it quickly melted with higher than normal temperatures and lots of rain. Not my ideal winter conditions to say the least.

If you wondering what it is that makes winter so special for me, gosh I wouldn’t even know where to start. The sound of the snow crunching as you walk over it. How the woods become an almost surreal and eerily quite place. How it’s as if everything is covered in a blanket and the landscape is literally changed, you have to forge your own path.
I love to bundle up and snowshoe through the woods after a snowfall. Or sit out in an Muskoka chair with a warm cup of hot chocolate (extra marshmallows please) and enjoy a nice fire. Add a lot of snowboarding, Nordic skiing and Fat biking is it no wonder I am a winter fanatic?
Recently a close friend and I had to create a schedule/calendar for all the things we want do in the winter months so that we could fit it all in. It was determined we had snow much to do (see that I did there?) that we had to add more than one activity in a day.

Even if you don’t like the snow hopefully you can at least take some joy in these snowy photographs from the comfort of your home.
As for me, I will be outdoors making snow angels.
